WHAT TO EXPECT AT YOUR VISIT

Learn About My Methods

I believe that the relationship between client and therapist is primary . Without a feeling of authentic comfort, safety, and unconditional acceptance, the therapy process will be undermined. I begin the therapeutic relationship before meeting the client with a brief telephone consult to assess client needs and answer any questions the client has . I assess client comfort level, preferences, needs, etc as well as acquiring basic sense of what the client is seeking .  An appointment is arranged for the initial interview upon mutual agreement to proceed . I provide both in person and virtual therapy appointments.

"Maybe that's enlightenment enough: to know that there is no final resting place of the mind, no moment of smug clarity. Perhaps wisdom ... is realizing how small I am, and unwise, and how far I have yet to go."

MY EDUCATIONAL JOURNEY

A Licensed Professional Here to Guide You

My pursuit of helping others began after I graduated Loyola University Maryland with a BA in Liberal Arts, Concentration in English Literature. I realized I wanted to really help others understand the origins of their behavior and how they were getting in their own way of  living an authentic life . I enrolled in Immaculata University’s Clinical Psychology program and received a MA in 2002. My Master’s experience included  two 6 month practicums: one in substance abuse/addiction treatment in group modality format,  and another providing psychotherapy utilizing a cognitive behavioral treatment modality . Following three years of full time employment in the area of community mental health working amongst a population of severe and chronic mental illness, I reentered the educational realm to pursue a PsyD in Clinical Psychology. I graduated as a Doctor of Clinical Psychology in 2011. I also came out of this experience with a specialty concentration in the etiology and treatment of females  with eating disorders . During my doctoral pursuit, I completed a 6 month practicum working specifically in the field of eating disorder treatment , and a one year internship in psychotherapy and psychological testing . I also completed my post doctoral residency ( one year) which included providing intensive psychotherapy and psychological testing while receiving weekly individual supervision from a licensed psychologist.  From 2005 forward, I have spent the time working primarily in group private practice . I work with children 10+ . My true passion is helping adolescents and adults .
